Newtongrange Star World Wide Supporters Club
Well that’s that then. On my way back to Brizzy already. This is just a short Ozblog because I am currently sitting in the Sheraton Hotel at Heathrow at 9 pm on Friday 6 September and have paid for an internet connection so I thought why not just send off the Ozblog because it is unlikely I will get much of a chance to send it until the beginning of next week given that I don’t arrive back in Brizzy until late Sunday 7 September. Its dark outside, pissing of rain and blowing a gale but apart from that it’s quite a nice night. Just been into the centre of London (Liz’s first time) for a quick bite to eat in Piccadilly Circus/Leicester Square.
So first of all I forgot to update on some fitba news last time thinking everyone would be tuned in but apparently that was not the case. So Hearts bit the CIS Insurance Cup dust on penalties to Airdrie (AET) midweek but followed up with a good win at Hamilton Accies 2 - 1 on Saturday 30 August (wedding day). On the same day Nitten Star were held at home in their first Premier League game 1 - 1 by Carnoustie Panmure (recently relegated from the Super League). I heard it could have been worse or better. There, done.
As planned Sunday 31 August was a day of rest followed by some personal business stuff, clothes shopping and tidying up general odds and ends on Monday 1 September. Tuesday we ventured through to Livingston to catch up with my mum and others. At night I popped down to the Star’s club as a last chance to see one or two people. On Wednesday 3 September we had an ‘impromptu’ cheerio night at the Star’s club. A few family and friends turned up and the event run away with me resulting in excessive alcoholic intake (well that’s my excuse anyway). I can tell you I suffered on Thursday before heading to Dale/Leigh’s hoose for a last night with the wee man.
Got up early and headed for Edinburgh airport for a mid morning flight to London. Said our cheerio’s to Dale/Leigh/Mason, Nikki and Linzi before heading off through customs. Tomorrow we continue our journey home early in the morning.
Tomorrow is also Macedonia v Scotland and I have no real feel for how that will go. Australia is also having a weekend off because of internationals but have found out that the Roar’s first three games were two draws and a loss (Mmm). The Star are way in the League to the new boys Ballingry and are hoping to improve on last week’s draw.
When we get home we will spend Monday moving bits and pieces to our new rented home in Kallangur followed by my return to work on Tuesday 9 September.
Finally, we are just sitting pondering the last three weeks, the people we’ve seen/missed, the events we’ve been to/missed and the feeling we’ve had/no had as a result of our return. We will still miss everyone and will continue to miss everyone (especially the wee man) but we still feel we have made the right decision (for better or for worse). So we will see everyone again some time in the future but the invite is still there for planned visits to see us in Oz.
